Moving Tips - Planning a Stress Free Move

MovingTips Moving can be one of the most stressful things you ever do. When faced with a million and one things to do to get ready for a move it is difficult to know where to start. Because of this, many people tend to put things off until the last minute which making for a much more stressful and tense move than necessary. If you plan ahead and follow these few simple moving tips you too can have a stress free move.

Moving Supplies
The first thing that everyone needs to have on hand when planning a move is all of the moving supplies. This includes having plenty of boxes, tape, markers and bubble wrap. To ensure that you have plenty of boxes, I recommend doing a room-by-room inventory of your house. Try to estimate how many boxes you will need. In addition, you will also want to determine if you need any specialty boxes such as wardrobe boxes, lamp boxes, boxes for dishes or glassware and boxes for mirrors or artwork. Once you have an idea of how many and what type of boxes you will need then it is time to order them. There are many places to purchase moving boxes such as your local hardware store, moving supply store or online. If you plan ahead and start purchasing your boxes a couple of months before the move then you will have plenty of time to shop around for the best price and you will not have to run around at the last minute creating more stress on yourself.

Once you have all of your boxes and supplies for moving, it is time to start packing. This is a very tedious and overwhelming job, which again is something that too many people put off until the last minute. If you start packing non-essential items weeks before your move you will be way ahead of the game. Also, if the idea of packing up your entire house just seems too stressful, you can always hire professional packers to do this for you. Although it will cost you more money, it may be worth it for your peace of mind knowing that things will be packed safely and in a timely manner.

Now that you are all packed and moving day has finally arrived, it is time to try to cram all of your belongings onto a truck. Sometimes this can be like doing a giant jigsaw puzzle trying to get all of your pieces to fit. Without proper planning this can wind up being an enormous headache. It is best to research ahead of time the best way to load a truck. Take inventory of what piece you have and decide ahead of time how to load them. For example, do you want to start with large pieces of furniture first and then stack boxes on top or would you rather load all of the boxes in first and stack them to the ceiling and then work in your furniture after. Again, just like with packing all of your belongings, if you think this step will be too much for you to handle, you can always hire professional movers to do the work for you.

Moving is never a fun experience. However, with a little planning you can help reduce a lot of the stress associated with a move. Start early and try not to put things off until the last minute. And if all else fails, hire someone to take over the stress for you!
